No Game of Thrones party would be complete without an Iron Throne. The HBO store has a replica available for purchase on their site for a whopping $30,000. But if that is out of your price range, there are tons of DIY tutorials online. One of our favorites looks great and is made from a plastic chair, duct tape, rulers and other readily-available materials from your local hardware and craft shops. Check out the complete instructions here. Prepare to be amazed!

For the Game of Thrones fan with a sense of humor, Etsy sells an awesome vinyl decal ($26) that can be placed on the wall behind your toilet. It comes in black, gold, silver and bronze and is a cheaper, easier alternative that will make your guest laugh.

Ravens play an important part in the series, carrying messages between the Seven Kingdoms. This wonderful crepe paper wreath costs around $3 to make and is very simple to put together.

This colorful banner is just $7 for the printable version. Then all you have to do is attach it to some rope or string and voila! The PDF is reusable so you can reprint the entire thing time and time again, or use the letters individually for other projects!

Crown of Gold

As the King (or Queen) of your own castle you will need a crown. This thorny gold version is a crafty beauty and would be very easy to making using thick cardboard in place of the chipboard used here. You could also spray paint it other colors and glue on different glass stones.

Next important party ingredient is food. To put together an authentic feast fit for Ned Stark, look no further than the official Game Of Thrones cooking companion – A Feast Of Fire And Ice. The cookbook contains over 100 recipes replicating dishes of the Seven Kingdoms, some straight from the books. Some of our favorites are the Leek Soup, Fig Tarts, Honey Chicken, and Lady Sansa’s favorite - Lemon Cakes

Other key staples for a lord’s table include fresh bread, cheese, sliced meats, figs, grapes and pears.

For something a little more fun and challenging you could try your hand at these gruesome but clever Beheaded Ned Stark cake pops.

You can’t throw a Game of Thrones party without plenty to drink. For the imbibers, AHeapingSpoonful.com has a menu of ten Thrones-named cocktails to choose from, here are few selections:

The White Walker: Fill a tall glass with ice. Pour white chocolate liqueur to the halfway point. Fill the rest of the glass with club soda and top with a drizzle of Blue Curacao

The Crow: Pour a shot of Chambord over ice in a pint glass. Add some fresh blackberries and top with Guinness.

Sansa’s Lemon Drop martini: Mix citrus vodka, lime juice, sweet and sour mix (to taste) in a shaker. Wet the rim of a martini glass and dip in sugar. Pour in drink. Garnish with a lemon slice.

Another Game of Thrones staple is hot spiced wine. You can find a recipe for the Winterfell favorite here, but this can be played with to suit your own tastes by adding more or less of the sugar and spices.

If making cocktails is too complicated and you fancy doing something simpler, these fun labels can be printed out and stick on your store bought beers and wine.

To kickstart any Thrones-themed shindig you should give your guests appropriately themed names. Luckily the wonderful people at Buzzfeed have come up with a Game Of Thrones name generator to help you out.

You could easily turn the name game into a drinking game by making everyone only use the Thrones names. Anyone who forgets has to take drink!

While we are on the topic of drinking games, there are several fun GOT-themed ones which could help lubricate your viewing party, if you are so inclined. You can set your own rules - drink when someone calls Jon Snow a Bastard! - or you can hunt down one of the many, many to be found online.
