Galaxy S4 Release Date: Samsung Announces Seven Carriers For Launch In Late April

It looks like April is not going to be so cruel to Samsung fans.
Samsung announced Wednesday morning that its flagship Galaxy S4 will be available on a staggering seven U.S. carriers later in the month, including AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, Verizon, U.S. Cellular, Cricket and C Spire. And while Samsung left it to those individual carriers to announce their own release dates and prices, it did say that customers can expect to see the S4 in stores by the end of April.
We're still waiting for the largest of those carriers -- Verizon and AT&T -- to make announcements. We do, however, have Galaxy S4 launch information from T-Mobile and Sprint, both of whom have already shared details of when customers can expect to purchase the GS4 on their respective networks.
On Sprint, a 16GB Galaxy S4 will cost $250 with a two-year contract, or $149 for new customers, and will be available on April 27th. Sprint notes in a press release that it will offer unlimited data with the Galaxy S4, potentially distinguishing it from AT&T and Verizon.
T-Mobile, meanwhile, which just unveiled its new "un-carrier" mobile plans that do away with two-year contracts, has announced that its Galaxy S4 will be available starting at $150, plus monthly device payments. (For the iPhone 5, those payments came out to $20 per month). On T-Mobile's recently unveiled plans, you are not locked into a contract, and you receive unlimited data, voice minutes and text messages.

Again, Verizon and AT&T -- the two largest mobile carriers in the United States -- are yet to announce pricing or release dates. We will update when they do.
The Galaxy S4 is Samsung's followup to the (wait for it) Galaxy S3, a sales behemoth that challenged the iPhone in the United States and helped propel Samsung to the top spot in global handset sales. Analysts are expecting more enormous sales numbers from the Galaxy S4, which was announced at a March event at Radio City Music Hall in New York City.
The phone itself ships with a 5.0-inch screen, a 13 megapixel rear camera and several innovative camera and gesture control features programmed into the software. You can read more about the Galaxy S4 here.
