The funniest thing you’ll see today: Stephen Colbert reviews the Kardashian game

BlackBerry finds a most unlikely savior

Kim Kardashian: Hollywood is the name of a mobile game that took app stores by storm earlier this year, despite the fact that it doesn’t really bring any actual value to gamers who may be on the constant lookout for new releases for their smartphones and tablets. What the game did do, however, was boost the share price of Glu Mobile by 50% last month, adding more than $100 million to its market cap, with some reports saying that Kardashian herself stands to make some $85 million from the title, which is available as a free download.

Unsurprisingly, Comedy Central’s Stephen Colbert has noticed the rising app and he gave it a fair review during his show, telling potential players how the game works and why they absolutely have to play it… or not.

“Her cash comes from in-app purchases,” Colbert says, quoting a Bloomberg story which revealed that “users can spend as much as $99.99 for $175,000 of virtual dollars” needed to buy bolts of energy in the game that are required for completing certain in-app tasks.

“Of course, a real celebrity would never buy energy,” Colbert adds. “Your assistant picks up grams of energy for you from some guy with a face tattoo behind the In-n-Out burger.”

Colbert also had a game suggestion of his own – Stephen Colbert: I’d Tap That – which would likely target the same people who play Kim Kardashian: Hollywood.

Colbert’s humorous take on this unnecessary yet extremely popular game follows below.
