Function Junction at Crown Center holds closing sale after 47 years in KC
KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Kansas City-based retailer Function Junction is closing its Crown Center location at the end of June with an ‘End of an Era’ sales event.
After 47 years of ‘carving out a place in the global kitchenware industry,’ the locally-owned business will launch its closing sale with deals ranging from 20-70% off starting Wednesday at 10 a.m. and ending on June 30 (while supplies last).

The founder and co-owner, Mary Merola, created the brand in 1977 when she was only 23. Since then, it has carried a range of items, including kitchen tools, barbecue utensils, bakeware, cookware, barware and more.
Now, Merola and her wife Rebecca, who is also a co-owner, are preparing to close Function Junction’s ‘brick-and-mortar’ chapter and move on to the next chapter in the brand’s life.
“I have been very fortunate to share my dream of owning and growing a gourmet housewares store here in Kansas City,” said Merola. “Over 2500 people have worked for Function Junction in our 17 locations over the past 47 years. I am grateful to them for investing their time and talents to achieve our success.”
Function Junction started as a small store in Seville Square at the Country Club Plaza. However, over the years and with the continued support from Kansas City, it has continued to grow and open more locations around the metro, including cities in Kansas and Nebraska.

Now, after more than 40 years of building relationships and running operations out of its Crown Center storefront, Merola officially announced the closing sale for her brand.
“As we approach the ‘End of An Era’ and close our last remaining retail store at Crown Center, I wish to thank everyone for being a part of this remarkable journey,” Merola said. “Please come in and visit and enjoy amazing discounts on all those Function Junction items you have grown to love over the years.”
According to Function Junction’s website, all sales during the ‘End of An Era Event’ are final. No refunds or exchanges are allowed, and all discounts are applied to the regular price.
All sales and discounts are only valid in-store, and website orders will not be accepted.
Function Junction is located at 2450 Grand Boulevard, Suite 231 at Crown Center in Kansas City, Missouri. The hours of operation are Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m.-6 p.m., and Sundays from 11 a.m.-5 p.m.
