Fulton County law officials on high alert ahead possible Trump indictment

With a potential indictment looming against former president Trump and others, law enforcement officials are prepared for whatever may happen.

Channel 2′s Michael Seiden was out near the courthouse on Pryor Street all day Monday.

Outside the Fulton County Courthouse Monday, security measures were on full display as a grand jury decides whether to indict former president Donald Trump.

“Never seen downtown like this before. Every block is completely shut down with police or media like yourselves,” Britton Clark told Channel 2 Action News.

Despite the tightened security, the courthouse and government center both remained open for normal business.

But getting to either building presented quite the challenge for many, including Nicole Low.

“I don’t drive but if I was, it would be really, really chaotic trying to find a parking space,” Low said.

As of Monday afternoon, there are no reports of any trouble or issues.

But Sheriff Pat Labat isn’t taking any chances, he has canceled all off days for his deputies and ordered everyone to work 12-hour shifts.

County law enforcement is also getting support from local, state, and federal agencies.

Early Monday, Channel 2′s Michael Seiden spoke with some Atlanta police officials who told me that all of their specialized units are ready and available but at this point, they will only step in if they are needed.
