Full Deck Solitaire for Mac review

Full Deck Solitaire for Mac lets you play all of your favorite solitaire games and learn about new ones, all through its compact interface. Whether you're a casual player or you've become a bit of an addict, you'll find a great way to pass some time in this app.

Pros

Lots of games: There are 22 games that you can access for free as soon as you install this app. These include classics like one or three card Klondike, Vegas Solitaire, Freecell, Thieves of Egypt, Forty Thieves, Red and Black, Royal Parade, Demon, Canfield, Spider, Pyramid, and many more. And if that's not enough for you, you can also purchase two additional packs for $4.99 each.

Rules review: Whether you want to learn a new game or just need a refresher on the rules of one you've played before, this app has what you're looking for. At any time while you're playing, you can click on the Rules button at the bottom of the interface to bring up a new window explaining the game. The rules are generally written out clearly and easy to follow no matter how familiar you are with these types of games.

Cons

Background and style options: There are only a couple of options in terms of the background of the screen and the style of the cards you use to play. When it comes to the background, you can either stay with the default animated option or switch to a plain green screen. The card styles offer a little more variety, but you can't just look at the options and choose the one you want. Instead, you have to toggle through each one and then stop on the one you want, which is a bit of an annoyance.

Bottom Line

Anyone who enjoys solitaire will have fun with this app. It would be nice if there were more background and card options, but that doesn't really affect the mechanics of the games, and the number of game options available is impressive.
