At approximately 8 p.m. Monday, the fuel tank of a locomotive was punctured at the CSX Goulding Yard at 4700 Sycamore Drive. Fuel leaked onto a soil/ballast surface area, creating a surface stain area approximately 60 feet long and 52 feet wide, according to the DEP notice.

Some of the diesel fuel entered an adjacent storm drain, but no groundwater or surface water was affected, the notice said.

The fuel was removed from the storm drain using a vacuum truck and impacted soil/ballast will be removed using hand tools, a vacuum truck and/or excavator. Following completion, a Source Removal Report will be submitted to DEP.
