Fuel Spill Sparks Fire After Train Derails in Fort Worth

A train derailment in Fort Worth, Texas, on Wednesday, April 24, sparked an inferno after cars carrying ethanol derailed and spilled fuel, fire officials said.

Officials said that train cars were in flames when they responded to the derailment at 1 am. A Fort Worth Fire mobile command unit also burst into flames during the agency’s response, according to a photo released by the department. ABC reported that 24 cars caught fire in the incident and first responders used a bulldozer to dump water on the flames. Nearby residents were evacuated, KXAN News said.
