FTC mails forms for foreclosure relief scheme

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Federal Trade Commission says it has mailed claim forms to Spanish-speaking consumers who lost money in a scam promising to halt foreclosure or modify terms of mortgages.

The forms went out this week and must be submitted by Jan. 14. The FTC won a judgment in November 2010 against Dinamica Financiera LLC, Soluciones Dinamicas Inc., Valentin Benitez and Jose Mario Esquer.

The FTC said Friday that consumers who paid them for foreclosure relief or mortgage modification services and haven't received a claim form should get one from the refund administrator: Gilardi & Co. LLC at 1-877-281-5622 or at www.FTC.gov/refunds .

The FTC has filed dozens of similar cases since 2008.
