Friend de Coup places fourth competing against 25 choirs from around the nation

Mar. 12—MITCHELL — Friend De Coup ended its competition season with a Best Supporting Ensemble and a fourth-place finish March 9 at the 16th Annual Wheaton Warrenville South High School Choral Classic in the suburbs of Chicago.

The event was extremely competitive, with 25 high school show choirs from California, Oklahoma, Missouri, Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, Nebraska and South Dakota competing in the treble/bass and mixed divisions for the daytime, caption and championship awards. Friend de Coup entertained the packed crowd with their show about their home state of South Dakota.

Grand Champion of the event went to Sound System from Center Grove High School in Greenwood, Indiana, earning their fourth Grand Champion award of the season. Second Place went to Sound FX from Los Alamitos, California, just outside of Los Angeles. Third place went to the Royalaires from Zionsville, Indiana, who came into the competition with three Grand Champion awards.

The 2024 competition schedule will conclude with some hometown opportunities to see Friend de Coup's 2024 competition show.

Friend de Coup hosts the Mitchell Show Choir Classic Saturday, March 16 at the Mitchell High School Performing Arts Center, and will conclude the day with an exhibition performance at 10:30 p.m.Show choirs from Omaha, Nebraska, Sioux City, Iowa, Vermillion, Aberdeen and more will be competing. The public is welcome to attend.

The 2024 show choir season will conclude with Friends Forever Cabaret — Celebrating 40 Years of Show Choir. Friend de Coup alumni from all over the United States will return to participate in the show, which is scheduled for April 11-13 at the Mitchell High School Performing Arts Center (PAC).
