Friday Outlook: Mid-80 temps, heavy evening rain moves in around Charlotte

CHARLOTTE (PINPOINT WEATHER) — We’re slightly warmer to start Friday morning with temperatures sitting in the low to mid-60s near Uptown and mid to upper 50s across our mountain counties. Clouds will roll in ahead of a cold front that will spark an active pattern heading into the weekend.

Friday will be above normal when it comes to temperatures as highs peak in the mid to upper 80s. Clouds will build throughout the day with rain starting after 4 p.m. These showers will be light to moderate and widely scattered.

Look for more widespread impacts of wet weather overnight as we head into Saturday. Saturday morning will likely be more dry than wet but still feature spotty rain chances. The best chance for storms, however, will be in the afternoon and evening during the peak heating hours of the day.

Storms will taper off overnight but moisture lingers for the second half of the weekend. Look for Saturday night into Sunday to dip into the mid-60s before Sunday rebounds back into the low 80s to finish off the weekend.

We’ll see a summer-like pattern settle in early next week with highs rebounding into the mid to upper 80s and afternoon pop-up storms likely.
