Follow-Up Friday: Boosting small businesses and getting housing repairs

NEW YORK (PIX11) — Monica Morales is making things happen, from helping our viewers get repairs to helping small businesses access funding.

Daniel Garcia is the founder and CEO of Salsa Caterers. He started his company in the South Bronx 34 years ago. He’s now looking for a food services contract. He’s one of more than 60 NYC small business owners who are getting a chance to meet face-to-face with a match for city funding.

One in six of them will most likely get a contract.

Luz Amaro, a proud grandmother of seven from East Harlem, wished for kitchen repairs.

After our story, not only did she get her repairs, but Valerie Fitch from a non-profit called Circle of Generosity was moved by her story and surprised her with a $2500 check to help buy kitchen appliances.

Finally, the city gave PIX11 News an exclusive look inside its housing lottery.

These are the people making affordable housing happen for thousands of New Yorkers.

Monica Morales, recognizing the value of our audience, will share exclusive, affordable listings in her next ‘Monica Makes It Happen’ show on Memorial Day, Monday, May 27, at 4:30 p.m.
