Fremont Police offer a reward to find suspect who damaged accessible park

FREMONT, Ohio (WJW) – The Fremont Police Department is offering a cash reward for information that leads to identifying the suspect who damaged an inclusive park.

The play park at Rodger Young Park, designed with those with disabilities in mind, was damaged on the evening of Saturday, April 20, according to a press release from the Fremont Police Department.

Picnic tables designed to accommodate wheelchairs were found to be damaged.

According to the release, the total cost to repair the tables is “several thousand dollars.”

“Not to mention taking away the accessibility that this play area was designed for,” the release said.

Anyone who knows who is responsible for the damage to the picnic tables is asked to contact police. A reward starting at $250 is being offered.

“We have recently seen an uptick in unacceptable and damaging activity in all of our parks. The Fremont Police Department is planning increased patrols throughout all city parks as the weather gets nicer and usage increases. However, we need your help,” the release said. “If you see someone in our city damaging the parks, please let us know, Please talk with tour children who frequent the park and make sure they are being respectful of the facilities. If you see something, say something.”
