Free workshop teaches renters about their rights

(COLORADO SPRINGS) — Renters in Colorado Springs are invited to attend a free workshop offered by the city.

The Renter Rights 101 informational session will take place on Tuesday, March 12, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., at the Independence Center, 729 S. Tejon St., with both in-person and virtual attendance options available. The event is part of the Renter Rights 101 workshop series for 2024, and information on this and upcoming events can be found on the city’s website.

Clinton Albert, an attorney with Colorado Legal Services, will lead participants through a range of topics, including lease fundamentals, reasonable accommodations and modifications, deposits, repairs, eviction, and updates on recent housing legislation in Colorado. Other community legal and housing resources will also be made available.

Event registration online is optional and gives the option to sign up for a copy of the slides and event recording, which will also be posted on the Housing and Community Vitality‘s website and newsletter.
