Free live music event with Grammy award-winning blues singer, student band

PORT ALLEN, La. (BRPROUD) — The West Baton Rouge Museum has a free historical happy hour with a Grammy award-winning blues singer-songwriter this Friday.

Enjoy an outdoor blues music performance from Chris Thomas King and the museum’s after-school Juke Joint Juniors band from 6-8 p.m. Friday, March 15.

King is mentoring the students in the band after getting a grant. According to the museum, King has spent years mentoring kids in the Baton Rouge area.

Before the student band finishes their evening set, King will join.

Bull riding, fighting, barrel racing and country music coming to Ascension Parish

The Blues After School program is free for middle and high school students. Donations will be accepted Friday for the museum’s mentorship program.

People can bring blankets, folding chairs and refreshments, the museum said.

The museum is located at 845 N. Jefferson Ave. in Port Allen.
