Free festival to showcase “early music” of Latin America

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) – Early Music Latin America Festival is showcasing the renaissance and baroque music as a part of the Early Music program at UTEP.

LeStrange Viola de Gamba Consort is a group of musicians that includes Zoe Weiss, Loren Ludwig,and John Mark Rozendaal, with Mary Springfels, Daniel Meyers, Jason Priset, and Estelí Gomez.

The group will be performing free music to the public as a part of the festival at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 7 at the Fox Fine Arts Recital Hall.

Director of the Early Music Program at UTEP, Dr. Lindsey Macchiarella said they received $28,000 Grants for Arts Projects award from the National Endowment for the Arts to support the program and continue preserve the music of Latin America between 16th and 18th century.
