Fredericksburg named top family-friendly travel destination in the US

AUSTIN (KXAN) — A popular Texas Hill Country town was named the top family-friendly travel destination in the United States.

Fredericksburg beat out places like Napa, California, Breckenridge, Colorado, and Virginia Beach, Virginia, for the No. 1 spot, on a recent list from Yelp.

Yelp highlighted some family-friendly activities that Fredericksburg offers, including exploring the town’s German roots at the Pioneer Museum, seeing the wildflowers at Wildseed Farms and hiking Enchanted Rock nearby.

The town was founded in May 1846 by German immigrants and was originally named Friedrichsburg, the city’s website reads. Within two years of the town’s establishment, the first road from Fredericksburg to Austin was laid out.

Fredericksburg is about an hour and 40 minutes away from the capital city.
