Frederick Harley-Davidson dealership closing on Tuesday

Harley-Davidson of Frederick on Urbana Pike is closing its doors to the public at the end of the day on Tuesday as its owner is retiring, a news release from the business said.

Owner and operator Michael Vantucci served the northern Maryland and northern Virginia region as a Harley-Davidson dealer for 46 years.

Vantucci could not be reached for comment last week and on Monday.

Heather Bailey, who has worked at the dealership for roughly 30 years, said on Monday that the business is not sharing any information outside of the press release.

In the news release, Vantucci and his wife, Nan, thanked customers and employees of the dealership, including the Riding Academy coaches.

They also thanked members of the Frederick Harley Owner’s Group (H.O.G) Chapter for its support.

“It has been [our] greatest pleasure to serve the motorcycle community. Ride safe!” the news release said.

Vantucci bought the Harley-Davidson business in March 1978 at a strip mall in Frederick, the release said.

In 1993, the business needed to expand. It relocated to its current address on Urbana Pike, the release said. With continued growth, Vantucci renovated the business in 2006.

The business and staff have been recognized over the years with Harley-Davidson Bar and Shield awards, which are given to dealerships that have excellent performance, representation and customer experience.

It also was recognized for its Finance and Protection Products, the release said.

The Frederick dealer has also partnered with various police municipalities for the purchase and service of the motorcycles. One of its greatest honors, the release said, was providing the Metropolitan Police Department with motorcycles for six inaugural parades.

Tuesday will be the last day customers can purchase motorcycles, parts, general merchandise and get their bikes serviced, the release said.

All gift cards can be redeemed for products and services until Tuesday.

Students enrolled in the dealer’s Riding Academy will be notified about course instructions or refund processes, the release said.
