Fraternal Order of Police holds annual Memorial Service in Fayette County
FAYETTEVILLE, WV (WVNS) — The Fraternal Order of Police (F.O.P.) Lodge #118 held its annual Police Memorial Service.
The service was on Wednesday, May 15, 2024 at 12:00 P.M. in front of the Fayette County Courthouse.
241 names of police officers were read aloud to keep their legacy alive.
59News Reporter Michael Hare traveled to Fayetteville to witness this event. While there, he had the chance to speak to one family member honoring their fallen officer.
Charlie Louk, father-in-law of deceased officer Thomas Edward Baker III said it is great to hear his son-in-law’s name in remembrance.
“It’s good to know that Tom’s memory is still alive. If you see, I have his call number on my shirt collar. I have a picture of him on my desk. We were pretty close to be a father-in-law and a son-in-law,” said Louk to 59News.
The purpose of this event was to show respect for those that have fallen in the line of duty and have made an ultimate sacrifice to the community and residents.
The Fraternal Order of Police along with the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office also had a reception after the ceremony on the courthouse lawn.
