Frat Boy Who Tried to Eat Victim's Face Charged

The 19-year-old Florida State University sophomore who fatally stabbed a married couple last August before attempting to bite off one of the victim’s faces has now been charged with two counts of first-degree murder.

Austin Harrouff, 19, has been hospitalized at St. Mary’s Medical Center in West Palm Beach since the night of the alleged attack on Michelle Mischon, 53, and her husband, John Stevens, 59, at their home. He will now be transferred to Martin County Jail, where he will be held without bond.

According to NBC, police arrived at the scene on the night of Aug. 14 to find Harrouff on top of Stevens, “biting off sections of his face” while making animalistic noises. Officers then attempted to use a stun gun and a police dog to get Harrouff to stop, but neither had any effect. People reports they also tried kicking Harrouff in the face several times - but that, too, did not elicit a reaction.

In a statement to WPTV, Martin County Sheriff William Snyder doubled down on the police’s belief that Harrouff might have been under the influence of drugs at the time of the attack. While he tested negative for methamphetamine, cocaine, heroin, and other common drugs earlier in the investigation, police have yet to receive his results for less common drugs, such as flakka or bath salts.

“We know that the blood is being examined by the FBI, they’re doing an analysis. I know we keep getting that question on the blood work. I’m very interested, we’re all very interested,” Snyder said.

Along with two counts of murder, Harrouff has also been charged with one count of attempted murder for stabbing a neighbor who attempted to intervene in the attack, one count of burglary, and one count of resisting arrest. It is unclear if he has retained a lawyer at this time.
