Franklin police chase, Oak Creek crash; driver arrested, boy hurt

OAK CREEK, Wis. - A high-speed pursuit that started in Franklin ended with a rollover crash in Oak Creek late Thursday night, May 9.

Police arrested the driver, a 19-year-old South Milwaukee man. An 11-year-old Franklin boy was taken to a hospital, and his parents told FOX6 off-camera that the driver abducted him.

Investigators said the chase began near 60th and Drexel around 10:15 p.m. It went through Greendale and Greenfield, too, before it ended near Interstate 94 and Drexel with a crash involving two other vehicles.

When someone poked out of the driver's side window of the rolled over truck, which was reportedly stolen, police surrounded the vehicle with guns drawn. The person then fell to the ground, and officers found another person inside. Officers at the scene helped put a small fire out.

A trail of debris – a battery, a mangled street sign, burned car parts – stretched a few hundred feet and was still around Friday afternoon. Police said, other than the 11-year-old, no one was hurt.

Franklin police continue to investigate and made no mention of a possible abduction when they released initial information on Friday; no one returned FOX6's calls. The boy's parents told FOX6 the 19-year-old driver is a friend of their other son.

Charges will be referred to the Milwaukee County District Attorney's Office.
