Franco misses Critics' Choice win amid allegations
James Franco skipped last night's (January 11) Critics' Choice Awards following allegations of sexual misconduct that have surfaced in the last few days.
The Disaster Artist star won Best Actor in a Comedy at the ceremony, though was not there to collect the award, as presenter Walton Goggins noted his absence.
Digital Spy has reached out to Franco's representatives for comment.
It comes after five women recently came forward with accusations of sexually inappropriate behaviour, which the actor's attorney has deemed "not accurate".
Franco had previously denied a number of allegations that emerged on Twitter following his win at the Golden Globes over the weekend, calling them "not accurate".
He said on Wednesday on Late Night with Seth Meyers: "There are stories that need to get out. There are people that need to be heard.
"I have my own side of this story, but I believe in, you know, these people that have been underrepresented getting their stories out enough that I will hold back things that I could say just because I believe in it that much, and if I have to take a knock because I'm not going to try and actively refute things then I will. Because I believe in it that much."
The allegations could impact the actor's current HBO series The Deuce, according to the show's executive producer David Simon.
"I am still reading it the same as everyone else, trying to discern what is or isn't there. Personally, I can only speak knowledgeably to The Deuce," he said.
"I've checked with all my fellow producers and other personnel. We have no complainant or complaint or any awareness of any incident of concern involving Mr Franco."
