Franciscan Health breaks ground on OrthoIndy Surgery Center in West Lafayette

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — Franciscan Health broke ground at the corner of Cumberland Avenue and U.S. 231 for the new 44,000 square foot Franciscan OrthoIndy Surgery Center.

Nearly 10 years after Franciscan Health purchased the 28 acres of land at the corner of the intersection, the new facility is expected to reach completion by 2025, according to a news release. Located next to the Cason Family Park, the surgery center will provide orthopedic urgent care, physical therapy and imaging services.

“Breaking ground was the first step in the process to bring this great collaboration between Franciscan Health and OrthoIndy to life,” Terry Wilson, Franciscan Health Western Indiana president and CEO, said. “We have formed a tremendous partnership with the singular focus of providing best-in-class services and care in a state-of-the-art facility.”

Officials from Franciscan Health and OrthoIndy gathered on May 15 for a groundbreaking ceremony for the new Franciscan OrthoIndy Surgery Center.

“We are excited to begin construction on the clinic and surgery center,” OrthoIndy CEO John Ryan said. “This new facility will be a true one-stop location, fulfilling virtually every orthopedic care need including orthopedic-only urgent care.”

OrthoIndy surgeons who will be available at the new Franciscan OrthoIndy Surgery Center will include John Bauman, Michael Cross, Daniel Daluga, Michael Highhouse, Mark Page, Troy Roberson, Paul Rodenhouse, Richard Rosales, Jonathan Shook, Peter Torok and Joel Virkler, according to the release. The Lafayette Orthopedic Clinic/OrthoIndy physicians will continue to see patients at their 1411 S. Creasy Lane clinic until the new facility opens.
