Fox Unveils New ‘Alien: Covenant’ Photo In Honor Of Ridley Scott’s Birthday
Legendary director Ridley Scott turned 79 on Wednesday, and to mark the occasion 20th Century Fox released a new photo on Twitter from the set of Alien: Covenant.
It shows the director standing in front of one of the creations from his 1979 classic Alien, and fanboys already have been quick to notice the Space Jockey, which was hinted in the first film when a derelict ship which contained a fossilized Engineer (and victim of the vicious chestbursting Xenomorphs) was discovered by the crew. But the creature wasn’t explained until 2012’s Prometheus, in which it was suggested the Space Jockey’s race was responsible for creating humanity.
And a new kind of horror was born. Happy Birthday, Ridley Scott. #AlienCovenant pic.twitter.com/xJcnXilplc

Fox recently released its first poster for Alien: Covenant, with the tagline “Run,” featuring an ominous picture of a Xenomorph peering out of the shadows:
Alien: Covenant stars Noomi Rapace and Michael Fassbender, who will return as their respective Prometheus characters Dr. Elizabeth Shaw and android David, while Billy Crudup, Katherine Waterston, Danny McBride and Carmen Ejogo also join the cast.
Fox has set a May 19 release date.
