Fox personality Geraldo Rivera, a personal Trump friend, supports impeachment and admits he may have 'refused to see' earlier problems

Fox News correspondent Geraldo Rivera said he supports the impeachment of President Donald Trump, slamming him for having "unleashed a mob."
Rivera tweeted in reference to Trump encouraging supporters to march on the US Capitol, which soon evolved into a riot that left five people died.
Pondering Trump's mindset, Rivera tweeted that losing the election "made him crazy or revealed a dysfunction I had refused to see."
Rivera is a longtime Trump friend, but called on the president to concede a few days after the election was called for Joe Biden.
Fox News correspondent-at-large Geraldo Rivera said he supports President Donald Trump's impeachment, and admitted that he may have "refused to see" earlier signs of Trump's unfitness to govern.
Rivera, a long-time friend of Trump, said in a tweet Tuesday that losing the election had made the president "crazy," culminating in him having "unleashed a mob to make war on their own government."
The tweet was an attempt to sketch out Trump's mindset when he encouraged protesters to march on the US Capitol on January 6, an event which soon became a riot that trashed the building and left five people dead.
House Democrats have since filed impeachment papers charging him with incitement to insurrection.
In his tweet, Rivera said the president had been "hounded" by the Democratic Party.
"A loyal friend, hounded without mercy by Democrats intent on destroying him from Day 1," the tweet read. "Then he lost the election. It made him crazy or revealed a dysfunction I had refused to see. He then unleashed a mob to make war on their own government. 5 to their doom. @LizCheney is right."

The reference to Cheney, a leading Republican in the House of Representatives, came after she said she would vote in favor of impeachment.
Rivera, who frequently appears on Fox shows like "The Five" and "Fox & Friends," has long been friends with the president, although he has at times been critical.
In November he called on him to swiftly concede the election.
"Time coming soon to say goodbye with grace and dignity," he tweeted on November 12.
The tweet came at a time when Fox opinion hosts were giving significant airtime to conspiracy theories casting doubt on President-elect Joe Biden's win, although the network overall had projected it.
Rivera intensified his criticism of Trump's refusal to concede late December, saying he had behaved like "an entitled frat boy" since the election.
