Fox News settles with Gretchen Carlson and Greta Van Susteren leaves the network

On Sept. 6, 2016, 21st Century Fox Corporation, the parent company of Fox News Channel, announced a settlement with former anchor Gretchen Carlson. It's reportedly for $20 million. Carlson sued former Fox News Chairman and CEO Roger Ailes on July 6 alleging that she had been demoted then lost her job for refusing Ailes’ sexual advances. Minutes after the settlement was confirmed, Fox News also announced the abrupt departure of longtime host Greta Van Susteren.
