Fox News’ Sean Hannity was working overtime Thursday night to get Democrats to vote for independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr.

As political analysts debate whether Kennedy would take more votes away from Joe Biden or Donald Trump in the general election, Hannity on his show argued Kennedy is actually more appealing to Democrats than Republicans.

“If you are a left-wing voter, Kennedy frankly gives you all the nutty Biden-Bernie Sanders Green New Deal, climate alarmist, religious coal policies, maybe without the corruption and sleaze and the chaos,” Hannity said during a monologue on his program. “He also supports affirmative action. He cut ads for the likes of Al Gore. He supported Hillary Clinton. He supported Obama. He has supported every Democratic presidential candidate there is.

“So, for conservatives that maybe liked his position on COVID, okay, now take a look at the rest of the record. We're only giving you fact-based information here.”

Kennedy challenged Biden in the Democratic primary before he decided to run as an independent. While he has supported liberal policies in the past, such as on the environment, he also espouses some far-right and conspiratorial views, such as vaccine skepticism. And NBC News on Friday reported that he has repeatedly dismissed the severity of the January 6th insurrection, and the day before his campaign walked back language in a fundraising email that called January 6th defendants “activists” who have been “stripped of their Constitutional liberties.”

Hannity also tried to make Kennedy seem more appealing based on his age and mental acuity:

“He definitely knows what day of the week it is. Gotta give him credit for that,” Hannity said, a dig at Biden, who conservatives allege is not mentally sharp and has memory issues. “Let's not forget, at just 70 years of age, RFK Jr. is more than a decade younger than Joe Biden, and he's more with it.”
