Fox News Mole Gets an Early Morning Visit From the D.A.
You may have already forgotten about the Fox News mole, but Fox News sure hasn't, and as a crew from the New York District Attorney's Office dropped in on the mole, Joe Muto, at 6:30 a.m. Wednesday, it was clear his infamy at the network would last longer than 15 minutes.

"I just got search warranted at 6:30am by a very polite crew from the DA's office. Took my iPhone, laptop, some old notebooks," Muto tweeted on Wednesday. If Muto didn't sound overly worried, we can only assume it's because he knows Fox and therefore expected to be served with a warrant, so cleared sensitive information from his hard drives. After all, Fox did say it would be pursuing criminal and civil action against him. "According to the warrant, Fox News is apparently accusing me of grand larceny, amongst other things," Muto tweeted. And then: "They're pretty worked up over a clip of Romney talking about his horses." Ah, yes, the time Romney sounded like an out-of-touch rich guy. That was actually kind of funny. Damning stuff. No wonder Fox is out for blood. And Muto clearly recognizes the gravity of what he's done. He tweeted: "I should have done something more innocuous, like hacked a dead girl's phone and interfered with a police investigation."

Update (5:30 p.m. EDT): Gawker has published the search warrant in full, if you're interested in taking a look at it. Gawker COO Gaby Darbyshire told Poynter that Gawker would be providing Muto with legal support, but that it didn't expect to get served with a warrant because shield laws would apply.
