SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — Four people have been convicted and sentenced for repeated felony drug crimes, according to San Diego County District Attorney Summer Stephan.

On Friday, Stephan, San Diego City Attorney Mara Elliott and San Diego Police Chief David Nisleit said the prosecutions were the result of work done by the city’s Accountability Renewal and Community Health Task Force (SD ARCH), which formed late last year to focus on crimes impacting unhoused individuals. Such crimes include repeated drug sales, drug use, theft and vandalism, the DA said.

According to a release, 59-year-old Frederick Johnson was arrested for possession of methamphetamine for sale. Officers said they found one ounce of meth and 13 more vials of the drug in his van.

After Johnson did not appear in court, officers said they discovered more meth and five cell phones in his tent at Linda Vista Park.

In a separate case, 59-year-old Della Infante, 55-year-old Angel Bernardo Reyes and 44-year-old Ramon Julio Byars were convicted of sales of a controlled substance after they repeatedly sold meth to undercover officers.

“Offenders who commit the types of crime negatively impacting residents, business owners and other unsheltered individuals are a small but active percentage of the homeless population,” DA Stephan said in the release. “Our goal is not to simply incarcerate members of that community but, instead, compel them to accept the treatment and services they need and thus, assist them in ending the cycle of crime and homelessness.”

The release stated that, in the months prior to those incidents, there were more than 21 drug-related cases and more than 25 arrests and citations made related to narcotics around Sports Arena Boulevard.
