4 San Diego-area spots among Yelp’s ‘top 100 places to eat in 2024’

SAN DIEGO — The San Diego County food scene has done it again — Yelp has ranked four local restaurants on its Top 100 Places to Eat in 2024 list.

For this list, Yelp analyzed submissions, ratings, review volume, and community input. From burgers and fries to soups and vegan options, these four spots have become popular among foodies of all kinds.

Ranked No. 53: Peace Pies

This Bohemian-style café serves a locally sourced menu of raw, vegan, gluten-free and soy-free dishes. Located in Ocean Beach, this spot has a 4.7-star rating on Yelp.

‘Impactful’ atmospheric river likely to bring more heavy rain to San Diego

One of the eatery’s favored menu items is the Magical Mango Curry Wrap, made with avocado, mango and mixed veggies wrapped in a coconut tortilla. Another popular dish is the Loving Lasagna, made of zucchini noodles layered with hemp seed pesto, cashew Alfredo and marinated veggies.

Peace Pies recently opened a second location in the Encinitas community of Leucadia.

Ranked No. 40: Rosemarie’s Burgers

This burger joint, which can be found in Mission Beach, also serves up a variety of fried chicken options. The restaurant has received a 4.8-star rating on Yelp.

When choosing from the menu, several reviewers mentioned The Little Sal burger- a Wagyu slider with bacon whiskey sauce, jack cheese, classic ranch and baby arugula. For the white meat fans, this spot’s Nashville Hot Chicken was most reviewed.

Ranked No. 16: Crafted Greens

Foodies will need to head to El Cajon to try this fresh and organic eatery. Menu items at this spot are also locally sourced. Crafted Greens has a 4.8-star rating on Yelp.

There’s more than just salads on the menu. In fact, the most reviewed item on Yelp was the Free Range Chicken Club that’s served on an artisan roll with arugula, slow roasted tomatoes, bacon, white cheddar cheese and roasted garlic. If you do want greens, many raved over the Spicy Asian Salad with miso ginger sesame dressing.

Ranked No. 3: Sunny Side Kitchen

This mom-&-pop counter serve spot offers breakfast and lunch as well a coffee and tea. Located in Escondido, this restaurant has a 4.8-star rating on Yelp.

If you’re coming for lunch, maybe go for the Meatloaf Pamini — it’s a family recipe. It consists of sliced red onions, an in-house sweet and spicy ketchup and three different cheeses on sourdough or gluten-free bread. For breakfast, reviewers pointed to the Bacon, Egg and Cheese Panini.
