Four residents and a pet displaced after fire in Portsmouth

PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) — Four residents, including one child, and a pet were displaced after a fire in Portsmouth on Saturday, officials said.

Around 4:25 p.m., Portsmouth Fire Rescue & Emergency Services responded to a residential fire in the 3800 block of Sugar Creek Circle.

The fire was determined to be out at just before 5 p.m.

The Red Cross is assisting three adults, one child, and a family pet that were displaced by the fire. One firefighter was injured and transported to a local hospital for further treatment and evaluation. There were no civilian injuries reported.

The cause is under investigation.
