Fountain City FC ready to kickoff 2024 season
Columbus, Ga – March is usually when college basketball takes center stage in “March Madness”, but this March there’s a reason for soccer fans in the Chattahoochee Valley to get excited.
Fountain City FC is the newest semi-professional soccer team in Columbus. They will kick off their season this Saturday, March 30th against _. The team will compete in the United Premier Soccer League or the UPSL. This is a 4th division league of professional soccer in the United States, very similar to a minor league team in Major League baseball. It’s finally match week for Fountain City FC the players have been training and preparing for this moment since February 2023. Now the squad is both excited and relieved to finally compete in a UPSL match.
“Lots of sacrifice from everybody involved you know the coaching, managing and all the players. To finally to get a chance to put it all together and put a final end product on the field is really exciting,” said center midfielder Jose Perez.
Some of the players grew up in Columbus, like Martin Ramos, and to be on a team with familiar faces is also rewarding.
“The guys that I have been playing with and I’ve known them for a little while now and just playing club in Columbus and growing up with them. Coming together with Fountain City we can’t wait to get on the field,” said Ramos.
Fountain City FC will kickoff their season against Legion FC Dublin at Odis Spencer Stadium. Kickoff is set for 4:00 pm Eastern Time.
