Fort Worth-area high school girls soccer: Rankings, things to know ahead of postseason

The UIL soccer playoffs will begin on March 25, and high school teams are currently preparing for playoff runs.

Which teams have the most momentum with the postseason around the corner? See rankings and things to know from Fort Worth-area boys and girls soccer programs.

Class 6A

1. Southlake Carroll (21-0-1) - Southlake Carroll is still undefeated but tied Byron Nelson 4-4 on March 5. That was the first time the program didn’t secure a win since Feb. 22, 2022.

The Lady Dragons lost to Flower Mound Marcus 1-0 in the regional finals last year and have a solid chance to make another deep run. Carroll has won 38 consecutive home games in a row.

2. Byron Nelson (15-2-3) - Byron Nelson’s record isn’t flawless, but a tie against a stellar Southlake Carroll squad is promising ahead of the postseason. Senior Gracie Berry leads the team with 40 points.

3. Mansfield (12-1-1) - The Tigers made it all the way to the regional semifinals in 2023 and have only suffered one loss this season. Junior midfielder Cameron Boyd leads the team with 40 points.

4. Arlington (22-1-1) - Arlington has had a strong regular season, and has got the best of district rival Arlington Martin. The Warriors tied the colts in the previous matchup; Arlington secured a narrow 1-0 victory in the first meeting. It’s a slight advantage, but the Colts are the team to beat in district 8-6A.

5. Hurst L.D. Bell (21-3-2) - The Blue Raiders are barely behind Weatherford in the District 3-6A standings but have won eight games in a row. The momentum will surely help ahead of the postseason. Senior Skylar Henley has tallied a team high 25 points.

Class 5A

1. Colleyville Heritage (17-0-2) - Colleyville Heritage has been dominant this regular season, and the Panthers still haven’t lost a game. They’ll be a force to be reckoned with in the Class 5A playoffs. Freshman Addison Shimmick leads the squad with 43 points.

2. Grapevine (13-6-2) - Grapevine is looking to defend its Class 5A state championship. The Mustangs have suffered two losses to district rival Colleyville Heritage but championship experience may prove effective when the postseason begins. Senior Caroline Martin leads the team with 40 points.

3. Aledo (9-7-3) - The Bearcats rank second in district 5-5A and are looking to build off an area round appearance last season. Freshman Allison Weimer is leading the squad with 21 goals, averaging over one per match.

4. Arlington Heights (16-4-0) - The Yellowjackets are undefeated in district play and are undefeated in district 6-5A. The same happened in the 2023 season, when Heights was booted in the bi-district round. Will a strong regular season translate to playoff success this time around?

5. Burleson Centennial (17-1-0) - Centennial’s only district loss is to Midlothian, an extremely dangerous squad. The Spartans are dangerous too and have won seven in a row. Senior Journey Curs leads the team with 61 points.

Class 4A

1. Decatur (15-3-1) - The Eagles were eliminated in the area round by Salado last season, and the program is in a position to compete in the postseason once again. Decatur is undefeated in district 8-4A play.

2. Benbrook (13-6-1) - Senior Campbell Cox is leading the Bobcats with 27 goals and 22 assists. Benbrook is undefeated in district play and has won 11 games in a row. The Bobcats made it to the regional quarterfinals and 2023 and are looking to make another deep run.

3. Diamond Hill-Jarvis - (12-4-1) - Diamond Hill Jarvis has had a strong showing in District 7-4A. The Eagles have lost twice to Benbrook. Still, they are a program with the capabilities to do some damage in the postseason.

4. Springtown (15-5-0) - Decatur has gotten the best of Springtown, but the Porcupines are still a threat out of District 8-4A. Springtown has looked strong with the exception of those two lossess to Decatur.

5. Godley (11-5-2) - Godley had won eight in a row and is in a strong position to compete in the postseason. The Wildcats are second in district 6-4A and are looking to make it past the bi-district round, where they were defeated last season.
