Fort Novosel will not lose funding amid rumors of shutdown, Rep. Moore says

FORT NOVOSEL, Ala. (WDHN)—Amid online rumors that Fort Novosel could lose hundreds of millions of dollars, Alabama Congressman Barry Moore says the post will not have any funding pulled.

Several general officers from the Army briefed Moore and his staff and assured Moore’s team that no funds would be diverted from Fort Novosel in the wake of the social media rumors.

The Army also confirmed to Moore that no training programs have been disrupted or halted at Fort Novosel.

“I am pleased to hear that no funds have been diverted and no training programs will be disrupted at Fort Novosel,” said Moore. “Fort Novosel is vital to our national security and provides thousands of jobs to my constituents. I will continue to fight for accountability and transparency in how taxpayer dollars are used by the Army and other government agencies while also ensuring that our military is ready to meet the demands of an increasingly hostile world.”

Those rumors began circulating after a post on X (formally known as Twitter) claimed that almost all of the funds for training at the Army Aviation Center at Fort Novosel were being taken away and allocated for Ukraine and other foreign aid.

When the rumors first surfaced, Fort Novosel officials praised Moore and other congressional leaders for standing behind the post.
