A Fort Myers pest exterminator waded through sticky mud and fought for briefcases full of money Monday on new reality TV show "Deal or No Deal Island." All for the chance to win a grand prize of millions of dollars.

In the show, 13 players compete in various challenges on the mysterious "Banker's" private island. At stake: A final briefcase full of millions of dollars.

"We're talking life-changing money here," host Joe Manganiello told the players on Monday's debut episode. "Because over the course of this game, there will be more than $200 million up for grabs."

"Deal or No Deal Island" is based on the classic TV game show “Deal or No Deal.” The Banker makes the rules and has the players compete to win briefcases full of cash scattered throughout the jungle.

Then, each night, the players "battle the Banker" in a version of the game show "Deal or No Deal." The winnings from each game are added to a group pot that will grow throughout the season.

At the end of the season, the last player standing faces the Banker to potentially win what the show calls "the biggest prize in 'Deal or No Deal' history."

Monday's episode is scheduled to rerun tonight (Tuesday, Feb. 27) on local NBC affiliate NBC2. It's also streaming on Peacock.

Meet Fort Myers player Miranda Harrison

Miranda Harrison, 30, of Fort Myers made it through the first episode Monday. Poker player Brantzen Wong, 31, of Tustin, California, was eliminated.

Harrison introduced herself to the other players at one point in Monday's episode. "I'm a pest-control technician, so I kill rodents and roaches and spiders."

The News-Press/Naples Daily News has reached out to NBC's publicity team to interview Harrison about the show. We'll write a separate article if that happens.

The rules for 'Deal or No Deal Island'

On Monday's episode, the players struggled to get across a muddy pass to reach various briefcases scattered in the deep mud. The goal: To find the case with the most money in it.

On each episode, the player who lands the highest-value briefcase wins immunity and gets to choose a fellow player to play "Deal Or No Deal" in The Banker's Temple. One of the two players with the lowest case amounts must "Face The Banker."

Aron Barbell was chosen to compete on Monday's episode with the help of the other players. He ended up winning $600,000 to be added to the show's final briefcase.

After winning, Barbell got to choose which player would be eliminated. He chose Wong.

Here's how the game show works, according to the show:

"If the player makes a bad deal and accepts an offer that is a lesser value than what is in their chosen case, they are immediately eliminated. If the player makes a good deal and accepts an offer that is a higher value than what is in their case, the power is in their hands, and they get to select who to eliminate.

"However, the devious Banker is always watching and raising the stakes with tests of strategy and greed. Manganiello will serve as the gaming liaison – an intermediary between the Banker and contestants – overseeing gameplay and helping to navigate them through tough, life-changing decisions."
