Fort Collins Fitness Club, Fort Collins Thanksgiving Day Run to Benefit Food Bank for Larimer County

FORT COLLINS, CO--(Marketwire - Oct 22, 2012) - Fort Collins Club (a northern Colorado fitness club) and the Fort Collins Thanksgiving Day Run are both benefiting the Food Bank for Larimer County this holiday season. Fort Collins Club members and community residents are encouraged to benefit the food bank by signing up for the race, donating non-perishable items and volunteering.

The RBC Wealth Management Fort Collins Thanksgiving Day Run invites everyone to start their holiday season with health on Thursday, November 22, 2012, 9:00 by pre-registering in person at the Fort Collins Club, Runner's Roost or Altitude Running (formerly known as Foot of the Rockies) before the race, or downtown on Thanksgiving Day. Participants can also register online from the Fort Collins Club's website. The race is located in Old Town Fort Collins and is sponsored by the Fort Collins Club, among others. Proceeds are to benefit the Food Bank for Larimer County.

The Fort Collins Club will have donation bins near the front desk from November 1 through November 25, 2012. It will be holding a raffle to give out three free months of membership to any existing personal fitness program or Fort Collins Club member who donates non-perishable items at the Club to benefit the Food Bank. Each time a member donates, they can put their name into a raffle. The Fort Collins Club is actively involved with helping out the Food Bank for Larimer County year-round.

Although non-members cannot participate in the raffle, those who participate in a different personal fitness program can still donate food, time and money to the Larimer County Food Bank. The Food Bank accepts fresh produce through its "Plant It Forward" program, in cooperation with the Gardens on Spring Creek. Besides produce, the most common food items needed are: peanut butter, canned vegetables, canned fruit, canned meat and fish, beans, pasta, rice, cereal, oatmeal, grits, shelf-stable milk and healthy kids snacks. Monetary donations to purchase the most needed food items can be made at the Food Bank of Larimer County's website, by phone or through the mail. Donation gift packages include a personalized card for a loved one in exchange for a donation in their honor, just in time for the holiday season.

Volunteers are needed to help out during the race on Thanksgiving morning, along with other opportunities throughout the year. Thanksgiving Day shifts will be from 8:30-10:30 am. Volunteer positions include: course marshals, aid stations and start/finish line. Volunteers are also needed at packet pickup at the Fort Collins Club on Wednesday, November 21, 12-3:30 pm and 3:30-7 pm.
