Fort Campbell soldier killed in Clarksville home

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — A homicide investigation is underway after a Fort Campbell soldier was found dead in a Clarksville residence Saturday.

According to the Clarksville Police Department, officers responded to an ambulance at an apartment complex in the 900 block of Tiny Town Road. Once inside, they found a deceased female. Police are looking for any neighbors who may have surveillance footage of the area.

That woman has been confirmed to be 23-year-old Fort Campbell Private First Class Katia Duenas-Aguilar, according to the 101st Airborne Division Public Affairs office. Duenas-Aguilar was a member of the division’s Combat Aviation Brigade, the Army said.

Sources tell News 2 that Duenas-Aguilar was a young mother.

“We are stunned by the death of Pfc. Duenas-Aguilar,” said Lt. Col. Tony Hoefler, spokesperson for the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) and Fort Campbell. “In the meantime, we will continue to cooperate with Army and local investigative authorities on this matter.”

Army Criminal investigation Division agents are working with CPD into the death.

According to Fort Campbell, Duenas-Aguilar entered the active-duty Army as an Information Specialist in 2018. She completed basic combat training and advanced individual training at Fort Eisenhower (previously Fort Gordon), Georgia, before reporting to Fort Campbell in 2019.

Duenas-Aguilar received numerous awards, Fort Campbell said, including two Army Achievement Medals, the Army Good Conduct Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Global War of Terrorism Service Medal and the Army Service Ribbon.
