Former Sumter County Detention Officer charged with improper sexual conduct

AMERICUS, Ga. (WRBL) — A Sumter County Sheriff’s Office Detention Officer has turned herself in at the Sumter County Law Enforcement Center.

After a criminal and internal investigation, Carrie Joiner was charged with improper sexual conduct and violation of oath of office. Joiner turned herself in and has been released on bond.

Joiner’s employment with the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office was terminated.

Sumter County Sheriff Eric D. Bryant would like to remind the citizens that he takes all crimes seriously and this type of behavior will not be tolerated.
