Former Springdale officer accused of participating in road rage incident pleads not guilty
SPRINGDALE, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — A former Springdale police officer who resigned following his alleged involvement in a March road rage incident has pleaded not guilty, according to court documents.
Garry Jones, 43, was arrested on April 26 on third-degree assault and harassment charges, both misdemeanors, according to a criminal information sheet.
The document said Jones followed a woman to her vehicle in a public area to “harass, annoy, or alarm” her, eventually creating “apprehension of imminent physical injury” by showing a firearm.

On April 25, a warrant for Jones’ arrest was issued and he was arrested the following day. Jones was booked into the Washington County Jail at 9:43 a.m. and was released at 2:51 p.m. that day. There was no bond listed in his booking.
SPD said on March 6, officials received a report of a road rage incident involving an off-duty officer, later identified as Jones.
He was placed on administrative leave pending an investigation from the Washington County Sheriff’s Office. Jones resigned on March 21 during an internal investigation into the incident.
Jones has a trial date set for December 2.
