Former restaurant to be razed to make way for Dollar General

May 1—OGDEN — The building that most recently played host to the Pink Pig barbecue joint — and, before that, the Pink House and a host of other restaurants — will be torn down to most likely make way for a Dollar General store.

Jill Guth of Guth and Associates announced they have brokered the sale of the property at 301 W. Lincoln Ave., Ogden, to Cissell Mueller Construction, a development company for Dollar General. She said that the Pink Pig has been closed for months.

"A neighboring building was also purchased and will be demolished," Guth and Associates said.

Regarding the claim, officials with Dollar General Corp. Public Relations said, "At this time, we are currently in due diligence phase for a new Dollar General location in Ogden.

"This means we are reviewing the opportunity to add a new store in Champaign County, but we have not committed to doing so just yet. Based on our current timeline, we anticipate having a final decision by late summer 2024."

"Please note the developer buys the land and constructs the building," Guth said. "DG signs a long-term lease, and then the property is sold off for an investment property."
