Former Preferred Meals property sold

Oct. 3—Preferred Meal Systems Inc., a Delaware corporation, sold the former Preferred Meals plant property, 4135 Birney Ave., to 2 Industrial Drive LLC, a Missouri limited liability company, for $7.5 million, according to a deed filed in Lackawanna County.

"The plans are to continue its current operations with a new company," said Mark Cusumano, manager of 2 Industrial Drive LLC.

Elior Group, the parent company of Preferred Meals Systems Inc., announced a decision in May to "exit Preferred Meals in the USA."

A notice filed in May with the federal Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act stated Preferred Meals Systems Inc. would lay off 217 people at its Birney Avenue facility, effective July 17.
