Former Patriots, Cowboys WR Terry Glenn dies in car crash at 43
Per multiple reports, former NFL-Wide Reciever Terry Glenn, died early Monday in a suspected car crash in Irving, Texas. He was 43 years old.
Per the Dallas County medical examiner’s office, and reported by ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Glenn was pronounced dead at Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas at 12:52 am on November 20, 2017. Additional details on the crash are not known at this time.
Glenn was the seventh overall pick in the 1996 draft by the New England Patriots after a stellar collegiate career at Ohio State.
Glenn was a walk-on to OSU in 1993 and eventually became the nation’s best receiver in 1995. In that season, he won the Fred Biletnikoff Award and was named a consensus first-team All-American.
In 1996, Glenn set a then-rookie record with 90 receptions for 1,132 yards and six touchdowns as the Patriots reached Super Bowl XXXI, which the Packers won 35-21.
Glenn had one more 1,000-yard season in New England (1999). He caught quarterback Tom Brady’s first career touchdown pass in 2001, before leaving the team after that season. Glenn played one-season stint in Green Bay with the Packers in 2002, but enjoyed a bit of a career resurgence in a four-season run in Dallas. He posted back-to-back 1,000 yard seasons with the Cowboys from 2005-06.
Knee injuries eventually took their toll, and Glenn left the league in 2008.
During his career, Glenn compiled 593 receptions for 8,823 yards and 44 touchdowns.
