Former Neshaminy school bus driver facing felony child porn charges

A 75-year-old former Neshaminy School District bus driver is accused of possessing more than 1,000 images depicting child pornography.

Robert William Derr, of Middletown, surrendered to authorities on April 18 and he was arraigned on felony charges of child pornography and criminal use of a communication facility.

He was released from custody after posting bail and ordered not to use the internet or communicate with anyone under 18-years-old.

Middletown police opened an investigation last month into Derr after receiving a cyber tip from the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children involving a Middletown address.

In a follow-up investigation, police obtained search warrants for Derr’s home and seized electronic and digital storage media and devices, according to a Middletown police news release.

The seized evidence was analyzed by the FBI Regional Computer Forensics Lab and yielded over 1,000 images of child pornography.

At the time of the search warrant being executed in late March, Derr was working as a contracted bus driver for Neshaminy, police said.

The district and his employer were notified of the investigation and Derr was immediately suspended and he has since resigned, police said.
