NEOSHO, Mo. — The manager of a southwest Missouri Dollar General admits to stealing cash from the store, and gambling with it, according to court records.

Investigators say Derek Cullum, 39, of Neosho confessed to them he stole more than $18,600 from the Dollar General at the intersection of Highway Y and US 60 in Neosho.

According to the probable cause affidavit, an internal investigation by Dollar General staff showed deposits that were to have been made between March 10 and 18 were never taken to the bank.

Newton County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested Cullum for stealing.

He initially claimed he was robbed, but once at the county jail, authorities say he eventually confessed he had taken the money. They say he used that money to gamble at a northeast Oklahoma casino.
