Former Loveland police officer charged with sexual assault of a minor

DENVER (KDVR) – Former Loveland Police Officer Dylan Miller, 28, was charged in a federal indictment for allegedly sexually assaulting a minor while on duty.

Miller was arrested in November 2023 on several charges, including first-degree kidnapping and sexual assault on a child. Now, he’s being charged on a federal level with aggravated sexual abuse, kidnapping and involved sexual abuse.

According to FBI Denver, the federal charges are separate from any local charges.

Original charges against Miller

According to Larimer County Sheriff John Feyen, Miller, a Loveland police officer since 2022, allegedly contacted the 15-year-old victim and several others at a traffic stop in the summer of 2023.

Several days later, the victim and another person were at a park after dark. Miller, who reportedly was on duty and in uniform, told the person with the victim to leave.

He allegedly told the victim to walk with him to a secluded area of the park and then sexually assaulted her.

According to the U.S. Department of Justice, if convicted, Miller faces a maximum penalty of life in prison.
