The Former Head of the FCC Is Now on Twitter

Julius Genachowski may no longer be a public servant. But that doesn't mean he's out of the public eye. On his last day as chairman of the Federal Communications Commission, Genachowski launched his own Twitter account. Of the four tweets he's posted so far, though, only one of them was written from his own account:

@fcc It's been an honor to serve as FCC Chairman. Thank you POTUS, FCC staff, and friends throughout this vibrant sector.

— Julius Genachowski (@JGenachowski) May 17, 2013

As a private citizen, Genachowski is going to have a lot more freedom to say what he wants about tech policy (among other things). But the four-year Obama administration veteran is hardly a stranger to Twitter. Last month, Genachowski weighed in this way on Red Sox player David Ortiz' dropping an F-bomb on live TV:

David Ortiz spoke from the heart at today's Red Sox game. I stand with Big Papi and the people of Boston - Julius

Sadly, President Obama's nominee to succeed Genachowski doesn't seem to have a presence of his own on Twitter. But Tom Wheeler does have a blog.
