ASHWAUBENON – A trendy hair salon will be making entrance to the area this fall thanks to former Green Bay Packers cornerback and 2011 Super Bowl champion Jarrett Bush.

Blo Blow Dry Bar, a salon that focuses on washing, drying and styling hair, announced via a press release a signed agreement with Bush to bring the franchise to the Green Bay area and be the first one in Wisconsin.

The salon specializes in "blowouts" for special occasions — or just the every day — with add-on services including color treatments and deep conditioning.

Bush has his sights set on a tentative spot next to HuHot Mongolian Grill in the Shoppes at the Village plaza, at 2621 S. Oneida St., an area he believes is booming with businesses and has a lot of traffic.

He said negotiations are in progress to lease the space and he hopes to have it open in September.

"That place is going to be rockin' with blow dryers and music," Bush said. "We want to get people in there and then on with their day."

Bush, who is currently on vacation in the island of Maui, Hawaii, said in a phone call Monday the idea comes from his own experience with his daughters, who are seven and nine.

Bush said after his divorce he "really struggled" to do his daughters' hair. He had to watch YouTube videos and learn how to do, with a lot of effort, higher and lower buns.

“I realized how important hair is for women, for their self-esteem,” he said. "I saw a woman in Chicago (and) her curls were amazing, and I saw how confident she was."

The former NFL player said it seemed like the perfect business for Green Bay to give the city a bit of "sprucing up."

Bush also plans for his bar to be an asset to all community members, he said, describing Blo Blow Dry Bar as a place for people in all walks of life.

The company started in 2007 in Canada and later expanded to the United States in 2010. There are currently more than 140 locations between both countries.

Vanessa Yakobson, CEO of Blo Blow Dry Bar, said in a the news release that “Wisconsin, and the Midwest in general, is a prime target of growth and an opportunity to provide more people with catwalk-quality blowouts. The year is starting out on a strong trajectory and I look forward to further solidifying our position as an industry-leading brand.”
