Franklin police called it one of the community’s most “disturbing and egregious” child sex abuse cases during a News 2 interview in July 2023.

“I think that as time goes on and we continue to scour through evidence, we’re going to uncover even more horrific things,” Lt. Charles Warner with the Franklin Police Department said.

Now retired, Lt. Warner told News 2 last July Campos allegedly gave his victims a combination of drugs so potent the victims were in a “dangerously comatose state” during the assaults. Investigators said they observed the boys’ conditions through videos of the rapes Campos allegedly recorded himself.

“What’s been described to me by the people reviewing these videos and these images is that these kids are like ragdolls,” Warner said. “They’re comatose and completely lethargic.”

One victim reportedly told investigators they had no memory of the assault.

In the indictment, Campos is also charged with possessing more than 50 images/videos of minors engaged in sexual activity, which investigators said were found on an iPhone 4. Additional explicit material of minors was found on an iPhone 8, a digital video camera, a mini SD card, and a tablet, according to the indictment.
