Former East Texas athlete arrested in San Antonio for alleged improper relationship with student
SAN ANTONIO, Texas (KETK) — A native East Texan has been placed on leave by a San Antonio school after he was arrested for reportedly having an inappropriate relationship with a student.

According to KETK affiliate station, NEWS4SA, Andrew McCown, 27, an algebra teacher and football coach at Roosevelt High School, is accused of having an inappropriate relationship with a student.
Authorities said that the North East Independent School District (NEISD) contacted police in late March when the student’s friends learned about the relationship and told school officials.
“This relationship appeared to have started early this year,” Sgt. Washington Moscoso from the San Antonio Police Department said. “In March, the school district immediately put him on administrative leave while this investigation was taking place.”
The police department said McCown did not want to cooperate with the investigation. McCown was taken to the Bexar County Jail on charges of improper relationship with a minor.

The school district released a statement:
“Andrew McCown was hired at Roosevelt High School in the fall of this school year. In March, several students reported that he was having a relationship with a 17-year-old student. NEISD began an investigation and placed McCown on leave. He has not been back on campus since March 8,” NEISD said.
McCown is part of a famous football family in Jacksonville. He was a standout quarterback at Jacksonville High School and graduated from Stephen F. Austin University. Multiple members of his family also played in college football including Texas A&M university, Southern Methodist University, Sam Houston University and two played in the NFL.
