Former councilmember Lynn officially files for state office

Apr. 4—Thursday was the second day of a three-day filing period for county, state and federal offices.

For Cleveland County races, only one individual declared candidacy Thursday: Lisa Meyer, a registered independent running for County Court Clerk. Meyer challenges incumbent Marilyn Williams, a registered Republican who has held her office since 2016.

For State Senate District 15, two more Republicans filed on Thursday, joining four Republicans and one Democrat who filed on Wednesday. Kyle Chapman and Kelly Lynn both declared candidacy on Thursday.

Lynn previously represented Ward 3 on the Norman City Council, until a McClain County District Judge ruled that he automatically forfeited his seat on the council by accepting a judgeship in Wewoka.

In the 45th district of the Oklahoma House of Representatives, Robert Murphy, a Libertarian, filed to run for office. He joins a field including incumbent Annie Menz, a Democrat, and Republican challenger Matt Watson.

In Oklahoma's 4th Congressional District, which includes Cleveland County and much of south-central Oklahoma, Paul Bondar filed to run as a Republican, challenging incumbent Tom Cole.

Bondar joins one other Republican, two Democrats and one Libertarian running for the office.
